MOHEGAN SUN LAUNCHES COMMUNITY CONVERSATION SERIES IN WESTERN MASS.

The Northeast's premier entertainment and gaming destination to discuss economic growth opportunities associated with proposed project during event at Springfield Sheraton Hotel.

PALMER, MASS. (October 21, 2009) - Mohegan Sun announced today that it will host a series of community conversations in Western Massachusetts about its plans for a destination casino resort in Palmer. The fist of these meetings is scheduled for Tuesday, October 27 at the Sheraton Springfield Monarch Place Hotel.

Mohegan Sun hopes to develop a world-class destination casino resort on a parcel of land adjacent to the Massachusetts Turnpike in Palmer. The project would feature a 600-room hotel and spa, casino gaming and internationally-known and branded retail stores and restaurants.

A destination casino resort in Palmer is expected to create 1,000 to 1,200 construction jobs and 2,500 to 3,000 permanent jobs - with the majority of the required workforce expected to come from Greater Springfield, the Palmer area and elsewhere in Western Massachusetts. Local businesses, community organizations and members of the public are invited to attend the event, which runs from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Mohegan Sun officials will discuss the proposed Palmer casino project, talk about employment in the resort casino industry and be available to answer questions.

"A destination casino resort in Palmer has tremendous potential to bring jobs, tourism and other regional economic growth to Western Massachusetts," said Jeff Hartmann, Chief Operating Officer at Mohegan Sun. "We opened an office in Palmer to get to know the community and to give local residents the opportunity to learn more about us. With our first community conversation in Springfield we hope to continue this process and provide a sense of the positive impact this project would have for the entire region."

Studies have shown that the highest possible tax revenues and the largest number of jobs are created with the building and operation of a high-quality destination casino resort. Mohegan Sun invites the public, business leaders and other community organizations and officials to stop by the Springfield Sheraton for refreshments and a discussion about one of the most significant economic opportunities for the region.

The Community Conversation takes place Tuesday, October 27th, from 5 to 7 p.m., at the Sheraton Springfield Monarch Place Hotel, located at 1 Monarch Place, Springfield.

Mohegan Sun has more than a decade of experience in the gaming industry - developing one of the highest revenue generating casinos in the world in Connecticut and the first commercial casino in Pennsylvania.
